Countdown to Classes!
It has been a week of preparing for English classes to start on Monday. Somehow it feels like we´ve been here forever.

Well, I will be teaching 3 English classes: 2 Intermediate I classes, and 1 Upper I class. I´m looking forward to meeting my students and getting started. I have my lesson plans for the first week all ready and this weekend I just want to rest and relax.
Tomorrow Catherine and I are going with our ¨house companions¨to a place called Chiclayo about 3 hours south of Piura. It´s supposed to be a beautiful town with an amazing history museum - or so says the History professor from Barcelona who´s living with us - and some really good shopping
And next weekend we´ve already made plans to go to Mancora which is a beach resort town about 2 hours away with amazing beaches and where it´s always sunny, so I´m looking forward to getting a nice start on my tan next weekend
So when all of you are pasty-white in the middle of a North American winter I´ll come home with an amazing, glowing tan
It´s okay - you can be jealous ![]()
The only hitch this week has been my non-functioning laptop. On the first day we were in the office, I hooked it up to the internet and the cord accidently got wrapped around my foot, so when I got up, the whole laptop crashed to the ground. Nothing seemed to be wrong with it, but the internet doesn´t work, or if it does, it´s so slow that it might as well not be working. So the tech people have been sending someone new every day to take a look at it. And in broken English and my limited Spanish we´ve established the fact that it´s a hardware problem. So next week, someone´s going to take it apart for me and try to fix it. I´m so glad that there are computer geeks in every culture ![]()
